Why Choose the Keston C30 30kw combi boiler?

The Keston C30 30kw boiler is a clever solution, especially suited for modern homes requiring a more flexible installation, particularly when upgrading from specific older models like the Potterton Powermax that uses a twin flue pipe, most commonly ran in a ceiling space.

As Keston installers, Celsius provides expert installation of this Keston combi boiler, which features a unique 50mm flue – much smaller than the standard 100mm flues from other brands.  This smaller size increases the likelihood that the new flue can be fitted into your existing ceiling space, just like your current boiler’s flue.

If other boiler companies haven’t recommended a Keston for your property, it might be worth asking them to consider the Keston as your next boiler, given its unique advantages.

The Keston C30 does not compromise on performance.  Its advanced flue system is engineered for durability, avoiding the common pitfalls of rubber washer push-fit systems which may degrade over time, especially in longer flue installations, which ultimately lead to unsafe situations, leaking flues and water damage to properties.

Keston backs this boiler model with a strong 7-year warranty, which gives you confidence in its performance and reliability.

Our engineers review of this Keston C30 30kw boiler

“The Keston C30 30kw is a solid pick, especially if your place was built around the early 2000s and you’re looking to replace an old Potterton Powermax or similar model.  What’s great about the Keston C30 is that you might not need to move your boiler to an external wall.  Its twin flue system is only 50mm wide, slimmer than what other brands use, so it’s more likely to fit in your ceiling space without big changes.  Choosing any other boiler model would most certainly mean moving your boiler from the middle of the property (like a hall cupboard for example) onto an external wall, which can make things more expensive to do.

Plus, the way the Keston is installed is top-notch because it uses a welded system, not the rubber washer push-fit types that might leak over time, especially with longer flues.  If you’re worried about the hassle and the potential leaks of redoing your boiler’s flue in a tight space, the Keston C30 could be just what you need.  It is designed to give you peace of mind with its unique, welded flue setup.”

Boiler controls on the Keston C30 30kw combi boiler.

Boiler Controls on the Keston C30

We’re often asked for boilers with controls that ‘just make sense’.  The Keston C30 combi boiler is recommended for its easy to use controls:

  • A. Domestic Hot Water Temperature Knob
  • B. Central Heating Temperature Knob
  • C. Mode Knob
  • D. Boiler Status Display
  • E. Burner ‘on’ Indicator
  • F. Central Heating Economy Setting
  • G. Pressure Gauge
  • H. Restart Button
  • I. Preheat Button.

I have a Potterton Powermax boiler in my flat in Leith, situated in the hall cupboard, with flue pipes running through my ceiling. Is the Keston C30 a suitable replacement?

Yes, the Keston C30 could be an excellent replacement for your Potterton Powermax, especially due to its 50mm twin flue system which is smaller than the typical 100mm flues from other brands.  This feature makes it more likely to fit into the existing space in your ceiling, minimising the need for major alterations to your property.  However we would always recommend a free engineer home visit survey to confirm this for you first.

Can the Keston C30 combi boiler be installed in the same location as my current boiler without major renovations?

Absolutely! The Keston C30 is designed with flexibility in mind. Its compact size and smaller flue diameter mean it can often be installed in the same location as your current boiler, utilising the existing flue routes through your ceiling, which is ideal for minimising disruption and maintaining the aesthetic of your home.

Why should I consider the Keston C30 over other boilers if I live in a flat with limited space for flue installation?

The Keston C30 stands out because of its innovative twin flue system, which allows for a more versatile installation in tight spaces typical of many flats.  If your flat has limited external wall access or specific architectural constraints, the Keston C30’s flue flexibility offers a practical solution while ensuring efficient heating and hot water.

How does the Keston C30 handle long flue run installations compared to other boilers?

The Keston C30 is uniquely designed to handle longer flue runs more effectively due to its unique welded twin pipe flue system. While most standard boilers might require larger flue diameters and more complex installation for extended runs, the Keston C30’s 50mm flue system can accommodate longer distances without compromising efficiency or performance.

This makes it an ideal choice for properties where the boiler is far from an external wall, ensuring a reliable and flexible heating solution.

Is the Keston C30 a good choice for properties built in the early 2000s with long flue runs?

Yes, the Keston C30 is an excellent choice for early 2000’s properties requiring longer flue runs in ceilings.  The 50mm twin pipe welded flue system is particularly suited for these properties, as the challenges of early 2000’s properties is that it is common to find boilers installed in hall cupboards instead of on or nearer an external wall.

What is the total maximum horizontal flue length?

50mm Flue Pipe Diameter = 27 metres minus any bends.

What is the total maximum vertical flue length?

50mm Flue Pipe Diameter = 27 metres minus any bends.

What should be deducted off the total flue length for each 90 degree flue bend on a 50mm flue pipe diameter installation?

Answer: 1 metre needs to be deducted for every 90 degree flue bend.

Example Horizontal Flue: If there is 2 x 90 degree flue bends needed for the installation, the maximum horizontal flue length would be reduced to 25.0 metres.

Example Vertical Flue: If there are 4 x 90 degree flue bends needed for the installation, the maximum horizontal flue length would be reduced to 23.0 metres.

Top Tip! The Keston 50mm is a welded flue system so its perfect for longer flue runs.  It reduces the chances of boiler flue seals leaking over time.

What should be deducted off the total flue length for each 45 degree flue bend on a 100mm flue pipe diameter installation?

Answer: 0.5 metres needs to be deducted for every 45 degree flue bend.

Example Horizontal Flue: If there is 2 x 45 degree flue bend needed for the installation, the maximum horizontal flue length would be reduced to 26.0 metres.

Example Vertical Flue: If there are 6 x 45 degree flue bends needed for the installation, the maximum vertical flue length would be reduced to 24.0 metres.

Top Tip! The Keston 50mm is a welded flue system so its perfect for longer flue runs.  It reduces the chances of boiler flue seals leaking over time.
