What is HomeCheck?

HomeCheck is an independent property inspection that focuses on the key systems and services within a home, helping buyers, sellers and homeowners better understand the property’s condition and identify potential issues before they become costly problems.

How is HomeCheck different from a Home Report?

A Home Report provides a general overview of a property’s condition and value.  HomeCheck goes further by taking a closer look at the property’s plumbing, heating, electrical and safety systems, providing greater insight and peace of mind.

What areas of the property do you inspect?

Our inspection covers:

* Plumbing systems
* Heating and boiler systems
* Electrical installations
* Water pressure, flow rates and drainage
* Kitchens and bathrooms
* Smoke, heat and carbon monoxide protection
* Potential lead and Legionella risks
* Visible defects, leaks and signs of previous repairs

Do you inspect the boiler and heating system?

Yes.  We assess the visible condition and operation of the boiler, heating controls, radiators and associated heating components to identify any obvious concerns or maintenance requirements.

Will you check the property’s electrics?

Yes.  We examine visible electrical installations and safety features, highlighting any apparent issues or areas that may require further investigation by a qualified electrician.  Our onsite engineer will complete his photographic report and once complete we send the information to our electrical partner to assess and make comment.

Do you check for leaks and plumbing issues?

Yes.  We inspect visible plumbing components and look for signs of leaks, poor workmanship, water damage and previous repairs.

Why do you check water pressure and drainage?

Poor water pressure, slow drainage and plumbing defects can indicate underlying issues that may require attention.  Our inspection helps identify these concerns before they become larger problems.

Do you check for lead pipes and Legionella risks?

Do you check for lead pipes and Legionella risks?

Yes.  As part of the HomeCheck, we assess the property’s water systems for signs of lead pipework and conditions that may increase the risk of Legionella bacteria growth.  Any concerns identified during the inspection will be clearly highlighted in your report, together with recommended next steps.

Will you test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms?

We check the presence and expiry dates of smoke alarms, heat alarms and carbon monoxide protection where accessible.

Will HomeCheck find every problem in the property?

No.  HomeCheck is a non-invasive visual inspection and we cannot inspect concealed pipework, wiring, or areas hidden behind walls, floors or ceilings.  However, we identify visible defects and highlight areas that may require further investigation.

Who is HomeCheck designed for?

* Buyers seeking reassurance before completing a purchase.
* Sellers wanting to demonstrate transparency and confidence in their property.
* New homeowners who have recently moved in and want an independent assessment of their home’s key systems.

What do I receive after the inspection?

You’ll receive a professional report detailing our findings, supported by photographs, observations and practical recommendations to help you understand the property’s condition and any maintenance requirements.

Can HomeCheck help me avoid unexpected costs?

Whist no inspection can guarantee future issues won’t arise, HomeCheck can identify visible defects, maintenance concerns and potential risks that may otherwise go unnoticed, helping you make more informed decisions and budget appropriately.

Do you service the boiler as part of the HomeCheck?

No.  HomeCheck is a visual inspection and assessment of the property’s key systems and services.  While we check the boiler’s age, condition and visible installation standards, a boiler service is not included.  If a bolier service is recommended, this will be highlighted within your report.
