At Celsius Plumbing and Heating, we love a good challenge. Recently, we teamed up with Keston on a project in Edinburgh that proved just how flexible and effective their boilers can be. The job? Replacing an old Vokera Mynute boiler in a tenanted flat.
The Problem and why the Vokera Mynute had to go
- The boiler was tucked away in a hall cupboard, nowhere near an external wall.
- The Vokera Mynute was a decent boiler when it was first installed back in the early 2000s, but it had become outdated, inefficient, and costly to run. One unique feature of the Mynute was its twin-flue system, designed to vent exhaust gases over longer distances. Unfortunately, most modern boilers without twin-flue capabilities would struggle in the same location, which is why other companies were recommending relocating the boiler to an external wall. This would have meant moving all the water, central heating, gas pipes, and electrics a costly and disruptive process.
- Other plumbing firms had told the landlord the boiler had to be moved, but we had a better idea.
