Boiler servicing is something that is often overlooked. People can often be too busy or think that it is an unnecessary expense however, there are some very important reasons to get your boiler serviced every year.
Maintain the safety of your boiler
The most important reason for getting your boiler serviced is to make sure it is in safe working order. Having your boiler serviced is a preventative measure to ensure the internal components are in good working order. During your boiler service a Gas Safe registered engineer will check to see if the boiler is leaking any harmful gasses, such as carbon monoxide that could potentially cause harm to those living in the property. Similar to an annual car service and MOT, knowing that your boiler is in good condition and safe gives you and your loved one’s piece of mind.
Annual boiler servicing maintains your manufacturer warranty
Manufacturers often state that you must have your boiler serviced each year by a registered Gas Safe engineer to maintain the guarantee or warranty. This means that failing to have your boiler serviced regularly could result in your warranty becoming invalid. At Celsius we offer up to 12-year warranties on our boilers and all our installations, repairs and servicing are carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers.
Annual boiler servicing will catch faults early (before winter!)
If left untreated small problems can become big problems as boilers that aren’t serviced regularly are more likely to breakdown. Having your boiler serviced annually can help ensure that your boiler is working properly. The engineer can diagnose and fix any minor problems which can save money on any potential future repairs that could be expensive.
Prolong the lifespan of your boiler
The age of your boiler will primarily determine how energy efficient it is. The older your boiler gets, the less energy efficient it becomes. The average lifespan of a boiler is between 10-15 years however, with regular servicing your boiler could reach this age and beyond. Replacing a boiler can be costly, therefore it is important to have your boiler serviced each year so that you can spend your hard-earned cash on the things you like most!
It is a legal requirement for landlords
If you are a landlord, then you’re legally required to have the boilers in your rental properties serviced annually to ensure everything is safe and sound. A gas safety check should be carried out on flues and any other gas appliances that you own and must be carried out by a qualified engineer that is registered with Gas Safe. You will need to get a Landlord Gas Safety Certificate (previously known as a CP12). A copy must be issued to your existing or prospective tenant too.
** Important- Smell Gas? If you can smell gas or think you have a gas leak, leave the house and phone the National Gas Emergencies number immediately on 0800 111 999.
