Why should I get my boiler serviced?

Boiler servicing is something that is often overlooked. People can often be too busy or think that it is an unnecessary expense however, there are some very important reasons to get your boiler serviced every year.

Maintain the safety of your boiler

The most important reason for getting your boiler serviced is to make sure it is in safe working order.  Having your boiler serviced is a preventative measure to ensure the internal components are in good working order.  During your boiler service a Gas Safe registered engineer will check to see if the boiler is leaking any harmful gasses, such as carbon monoxide that could potentially cause harm to those living in the property.  Similar to an annual car service and MOT, knowing that your boiler is in good condition and safe gives you and your loved one’s piece of mind.

Annual boiler servicing maintains your manufacturer warranty

It is a legal requirement for landlords

If you are a landlord, then you’re legally required to have the boilers in your rental properties serviced annually to ensure everything is safe and sound.  A gas safety check should be carried out on flues and any other gas appliances that you own and must be carried out by a qualified engineer that is registered with Gas Safe.  You will need to get a Landlord Gas Safety Certificate (previously known as a CP12).  A copy must be issued to your existing or prospective tenant too.
